The Cora Craig Author Award for Young Women was created in memory of Mahogany L. Browne's maternal grandmother, Cora Maxine Craig. Cora was loved by everyone she touched from church to working for the State of California. She was a strong, intelligent, compassionate and dependable mother, grandmother and friend. This award celebrates her fearless life and the spirit of all women. As Penmanship Books first Book Award, The CC Women Author Award will provide three women with a published book of their work including but not limited to: Visual Art, Poetry, Short Stories, Prose & Non-Fiction. 

The three 2009 receipents are :
